An exciting opportunity is coming to Potrero Hill! Recently, HUD released a NOFA (Notice of Funding Availability) for another round of the federal program Choice Neighborhoods. Potrero Hill is in a unique position to apply for a Choice Neighborhood Planning Grant.
The Planning Grant, if awarded, would allow us to create a cohesive Community Transformation Plan, concentrating specifically on education, health, safety, employment, and family services for not only Potrero Terrace and Annex residents, but for the larger community as well. Rebuild Potrero has spent years creating a master plan focused primarily on the physical environment — this would be a focus on the social environment.
The grant application process is lengthy and BRIDGE will be partnering with SFHA and the Mayor’s Office of Housing over the coming month to put it together. Now we need your help brainstorming what a comprehensive Community Transformation Plan should entail and what an inclusive planning process should look like.
I hope you can make the next Community Building Group on Thursday, April 5, 6-8 at the NABE, to discuss this further and share your ideas.
At the Community Building Group, we will also discuss our next community-wide event and the wonderful changes to the Potrero Healthy Living Program.
Hope you can join us!
